Hope all of you had a restful Memorial Day weekend! We stayed home for the first weekend in a while and had a great time grilling out, swimming, catching up with friends who recently moved to NC, and playing with the new camera that Eric and Mary Lu gave me for Mother’s Day! Below are a few pictures from our weekend. (Of course, our backyard “photo shoot” involved a call to poison control when Mary Lu put a few hydrangea petals in her mouth. All is well, though!)
Mary Lu is 7 ½ months old. Her “latest and greatest” include:
· Growing a new tooth. She hasn’t fussed at all about her tooth. I spotted it while tickling her last Monday. It had already broken through the gums! I would love to send a picture of it, but, after 30+ attempts at getting a shot of it, I gave up.
· Swimming. We splashed around in the pool on Monday. Mary Lu loves to splash!! The water ends up in her eyes and nose, but she just takes a big breath and keeps going. Yesterday, she kicked and kicked--quite a workout! She is turning into a little fish.
· Eating new things. She tried kiwi (not a favorite!) and squash (loooooved it) this weekend.
· Sitting in a restaurant high chair. We visited Aunt Millie and Uncle Cory in Chicago last weekend. We had breakfast at one of their favorite restaurants, Bakin’ and Eggs, with plans to keep Mary Lu in her stroller. She was restless, so we tried her out in the highchair. She had a blast being at eye level with everyone and everything on the table. It definitely made our table space smaller – her little arms were grabbing for everything! The “germophobe” in me is also happy to report that we did it without a highchair cover (only because I left it at home!).
· Clicking her tongue. Eric has been clicking his tongue at her for a while. She watches with amazement (at this and EVERYTHING he does!) and has tried to mimic it. On our way home from the airport last week, we suddenly heard a “click” from the backseat! She figured it out and now “answers” her Daddy when he clicks his tongue at her.
